popolo

Nobody can find you here.

Popolo is a messenger for one person at a time. There is no sign-up, no username and no directory. Someone reaches you only if you handed them a code — and messages go a day after they are read.

Popolo is not released yet. This page describes what is being built. The app is not on the App Store, and nothing below is a description of a service you can use today.

What makes it different

Unwanted messages are impossible, not filtered. There is nothing to search and nobody to look up.
Blocking is final. The pairing is the only channel that exists. Destroy it and there is no way back in.
Nothing is kept quietly. Screenshots and kept messages are both announced to the other person, every time.
Your address will not reach our servers. Requests are designed to arrive through a relay run by a different company, so linking you to a conversation would take both of us. That relay is not contracted yet, so this is the plan rather than something already true.

Popolo cannot stop a screenshot. No iPhone app can. It tells you every time one is taken instead, and hides your conversation while the screen is being recorded.

Get it

Not yet — Popolo is still in development. When it ships it will be here: Popolo Messenger on the App Store, for iPhone on iOS 17 or later.
